Island Of Komodo

Five hundred kilometers from Bali one can find the island of Komodo , Indonesia . The island of Komodo is a relatively small land mass, just over 275 square kilometers, and is neatly nestled between the island of Flores and the island of Sumbawa . The number of actual inhabitants on the island of Komodo is just over 400 people, as the island is primarily the home of the Komodo dragon. Younger Komodo dragons can be seen amid various trees that are scattered on the island, while the older Komodo dragons, too large to climb trees are frequently found wandering the landscape. In terms of landscape, the island of Komodo appears relatively barren—the formation of the island is due to volcanic eruptions that have resulted in tremendous hillsides. Nevertheless, some greenery erupts during monsoon season, palm trees dapple the landscape, and the island has numerous tamarind trees growing in and on the hillsides of the island. Meanwhile the waters that surround the island of Komodo are said to possess immense biodiversity—the volcanic eruptions have created a fertile seabed and the waters are filled with incredible aquatic creatures.
