An Interview with a Dragon - Part III: Dragon Humor

AD: Indeed. Many people would really not care to know about dragons at all. And so, alas, they do not.

VR: It's so sad to me.

AD: Yes, well, I suppose the positive side to this is that we do have our privacy. Although we still have our share of interactions with humans.

VR: Such as?

AD: Interviews such as this in rare cases.

VR: And?

AD: Sometimes our young ones get summoned by human magicians to do this thing or that. Mostly younger dragons will concede to be summoned out of curiosity. Older dragons know better, and when they see the wizard's summoning portal open in front of them, and peer through to see some old man in funny robes speaking in tongues, they will just send something else through the portal instead.

VR: Like what? What would a dragon send through? A tempest? A whirlwind?

AD: Usually a cow or a grand piano.

VR: Why a grand piano?

AD: Comic effect.

VR: Fascinating. Tell me more about dragon humor.

AD: It's funny.

VR: …Yes, but I mean, could you go into more detail about it?

AD: What exactly do you want to know?

VR: How do dragons use humor?

AD: Usually to teach someone a lesson.

VR: What message would a dragon be sending by sending the grand piano?

AD: "Cut it out."
